New Federal Law Imposes Regulations on Garage Sales

Americans who slap $1 price tags on their used possessions at garage sales or bazaar events risk being slapped with fines of up to $15 million, thanks to a new government campaign.

If you're planning a garage sale or organizing a church bazaar, you'd best beware: You could be breaking a new federal law. As part of a campaign called Resale Roundup, the federal government is cracking down on the secondhand sales of any product with a recall.

Lothrop's daughter, Laura, was upset about four years ago when Mattel changed the clothing for many of the Polly Pocket dolls from a rubber-type material to plastic and inserted small magnets to hold it on the figures.

Now, Nancy and Laura Lothrop must do a painstaking inventory of her collection, searching for tiny model numbers to see whether they match any of the recalled items. If they find matches, they'll pull the recalled dolls and accessories from the group that they're selling.

Nancy Lothrop, though, doesn't quite understand why the dolls are being singled out.

"Many toys have small pieces that could be dangerous," she said. "My son played with army men, Lego blocks, all kinds of things with little parts. A toddler can put anything in his mouth. Parents need to have common sense. Ultimately, the parent needs to really evaluate and be watchful of what the child is playing with. We as consumers have to be careful. It really comes back to us."

The crackdown affects sellers ranging from major thrift-store operators such as Goodwill and the Salvation Army to everyday Americans cleaning out their attics for yard sales, church bazaars or — increasingly — digital hawking on eBay, Craigslist and other Web sites.

Secondhand sellers now must keep abreast of ALL recalls for THOUSANDS of products, some of them stretching back more than a decade, to stay within the bounds of the law.

Cass Sunstein -Anti 2nd Amendment Czar aka "Regulatory Czar"

What can you ask is just as important as the health care reform? How about the appointment of 1 man. Cass Sunstein is Obama's pick for Regulatory Czar. Here are just a few of his public beliefs.

1. Sunstein believes in regulating hunting out of existence.  He told a Harvard audience in 2007 that “we ought to ban hunting.” In Sunstein’s plan, animals should have just as many rights as people … and they should be able to sue humans in court via a government appointed attorney! <-- Kooky

2. Sunstein has been quoted "Almost all gun control legislation is constitutionally fine…. Citizens should not be so confident in their enthusiasm for invalidating gun control legislation." Hmm, what part of “shall not be infringed” does Sunstein not understand?

What will the "Regulatory Czar" do: He regulates laws — past, present and future. He tweaks them.

What could that mean to you? Well, consider that Sunstein is a man who doesn't believe we should be eating meat; a man who believes that animals should be provided attorney's in courts of law; a man that believes that everyone must be an organ donor; a man who believes that maybe you shouldn't be able to remove rats from your home, if it causes them any pain. Cass Sunstein doesn't have to pass a law to ban meat, he just works with the environmental agencies to make sure feed is tougher to obtain, grazing lands are more protected and it's much more difficult to ship. So ranchers can't graze their cattle.

Tea Party attendees demand Van Jones resignation, and it happens..

In what seems like an uncanny prophetic occurrence, Bill Cunningham asked Tea Party attendees on Saturday if they thought Van Jones ought to step down. The air was filled with the cheers of approving voices. And  then news headlines on Sunday announced, "Obama ‘Green Jobs’ Adviser Van Jones Resigns Amid Controversy." Score one for the Tea Party — a major one.  Coincidence? Maybe.  But I still find the timing very interesting.

Van Jones, the former registered communist turned White House green jobs "czar" in an expletive-laced rant against Republicans calling the a$$holes. Not to mention other racial and anti USA rederick.

HR 2749 - aka "FDA Sheriff" Bill

Passage of the FSEA into law would amend the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA).  The bill proposes a substantial increase in power and resources for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and would significantly diminish existing judicial restraints on actions taken by the agency.  Although the bill includes some provisions that could improve the mainstream food system, many of these are  vaguely worded and do not clearly define the scope of the agency’s power, creating the potential for inappropriate application and enforcement.  Small farms and local artisanal producers are part of the solution to the food safety problem in this country; the bill would impose on them a one-size-fits-all regulatory scheme and would disproportionately impact their operations for the worse.

This grab of power by the FDA will allow the following: WARRANTLESS SEARCHES, EXPENSIVE FOOD TRACING SYSTEMS, $100,000 PENALTIES, FARM REGISTRATION FEEs, GARDEN REGULATIONS

I have no doubt that this legislation was heavily influenced by lobbyists from huge food producers.  This legislation is so broad based that technically someone with a little backyard garden could get fined and have their property seized. It will affect anyone who produces food even if they do not sell but only consume it.  It will literally put all independent farmers and food producers out of business due to the huge amounts of money it will take to conform to factory farming methods.  If people choose to farm without industry standards such as chemical pesticides and fertilizers they will be subject to a variety of harassment from this completely new agency that has never before existed.  That's right, a whole new government agency is being created just to police food, for our own protection of course.

Obama Says Crack Sentences Unfair to Blacks

WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration is asking Congress to close the big gap in prison sentences for dealing crack versus powdered cocaine, a law that critics say is unfair to blacks. "The administration believes Congress' goal should be to completely eliminate the disparity in prison sentences between crack cocaine and powdered cocaine," Breuer said in written testimony to be delivered Wednesday.

Such sentencing reform efforts tend to focus on lowering the mandatory minimum sentences for crack cocaine possession, but in prepared testimony to the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs, Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer did not spell out exactly how the administration hopes to make the law more fair..

President Bush Kept America Safe

I just want to publicly say THANK YOU to President Bush for keeping America SAFE post 9-11. He may have not been the best President in other areas but it is a FACT that our interagations stopped multiple bombings and aided in the killing of al qaeda leaders. So, NO Im not sorry we poured water on their mass murdering, suicide bombing asses! As every day & every decision goes by, I can't for the life of me understand why the droves of 'lefties' can't see that Obama is the most un-American, anti-Freedom, un-Constitutional President to ever hold our prestigious office!

FBI spied on TEA Party Americans

Even as 750,000 average Americans were planning to get out in towns and cities to demonstrate against Big Government and Big Taxes, Federal Bureau of Intelligence Investigation (FBI) surveillance was being unleashed upon them.  In fact, unsuspecting Tax Day TEA Party participants were being closely watched during the demonstration planning stages in a covert operation that began on or about March 23, 2009.

“Listen to what I am saying,” stated the source during an interview with Doug Hagmann,  founder (NEIN). In addition to obtaining or confirming the location and time of each “demonstration,” each field office was instructed to obtain or confirm the identity of the individual(s) involved in the actual planning and coordination of the event in each specific region, and include the local or regional Internet web site address, if any.  The information collected by region was then reportedly sent to FBI Headquarters.

A newly unclassified Department of Homeland Security report warns against the possibility of violence by unnamed "right-wing extremists" these people include anyone who dosent support illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty and also singles out returning war veterans as particular threats.

Here comes the bill for all of this spending.. Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann reported today that the Obama administration’s “cap-and-trade” plan should be called the “China and India Stimulus Plan” because it would result in American jobs being shipped overseas. Rep. Bachmann also said the plan — which seeks to reduce pollution by setting limits on carbon emissions and requiring businesses to pay to surpass them — would constitute an “energy tax” and be devastating to all Americans.

“At a minimum it will add that much, Bachmann responded.

President Barack Obama has stirred yet another controversy when he bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia during the recent G20 Economic Summit. The appropriateness of an elected President bowing before an absolute monarch has been questioned.

The writer Mark Steyn suggested, rather caustically, "So let me see if I understand American protocol in the age of Obama: The First Lady hugs Queen Elizabeth as if she's some granny at a seniors' center photo-op, but the President of this republic prostrates himself before KingObama Bows to the Saudi King Abdullah as if he's a subject of the Saudi pseudo-Crown."

While the behavior of Michelle Obama toward the Queen of England was considered by some to be overly familiar, Barack Obama bowing before the King of Saudi Arabia seems to be obsequious in the extreme. Under no circumstances is it expected or even permitted for an American citizen to bow before any foreign monarch. This is especially true of the elected President of the United States.

It seems strange that the allegedly naïve and boorish President George W. Bush knew this, whereas the sophisticated and worldly President Barack Obama does not. Americans fought a revolution, after all, so that they would not have to bow down before any monarch. One wonders what the men who fought at Lexington-Concord, Saratoga, and Yorktown would have thought of President Obama bowing before the King of Saudi Arabia.

In the Middle East especially, the act of bowing indicates submission and acknowledgment of that the person being bowed to is the master. President Obama by bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia acknowledged him as his sovereign. Indeed, President Obama may well have acknowledged the Saudi King as our sovereign, by an interpretation of local custom.
